Michigan Loses ‘Right To Farm’ This Week: A Farewell To Backyard Chickens and Beekeepers
I am not sure that right to farm laws should necessarily apply in urban and suburban settings, typically these uses are “grandfathered” as non-conforming uses and allowed to continue as long as they are not discontinued for a specific time period (In Nebraska that is at least 12 months). What I find truly offensive about this is that the Farm Bureau supported the findings. To me that would indicate that they have no real use for the small farmer, hobby farmer, or anyone that is not involved in full blown production agriculture. Maybe they should change their name to the Factory Farm Bureau. They seem to have this same attitude in Nebraska.

Paperwork signed, earnest money down, utilities switched and we have keys
March 20, 2015 the first day of spring we planted our urban farm. It isn’t ours yet but we do have possession of it and as they say possession is 9/10ths.
Chad’s parents walked through the house and looked over the property that same afternoon. Kurt (Chad’s brother) and his son Harrison were in town too so they got the tour.
Now the work of cleaning and prepping to move in begins. We will be moving loads of stuff every time we go over and packing in between.
Exciting times.
The bank says yes, now we just need to get the approvals for the rezoning, subdivision and annexation.
If you are looking for a nice 3 bedroom 3 bath house in north central Grand Island we will have one for sale.
